What are some reasons sports (any sport or sports in general) are harder than marching band?
I believe it's just as challenging in its own way as other sports are challenging in their own. However, I have to argue the point for class that it's not as hard as other sports, and shouldn't be counted as one. If you have a reason why it shouldn't be a sport or why other sports or harder, please give me some ideas. I'm running low on them.

- I have never heard Marching band considered as a sport. Most sports require some sort of conditioning. And most sports require some sort of physical activity, other than just walking around. You swim in swimming, you run in running (obviously) Diving, you condition (i'm in diving, and the conditioning is hard) Also, most sports require running as a warm up. Or as some sort of conditioning. Does that make sense? ~AtA~
- a marching band isn't considered a sport because it isn't athletic. i am not "downsizing" or "putting down" the marching band members, because i know they work hard. its just that marching band consists of a different kind of skill; musical instead of athletic
- Marching Band is not a sport. It is in the music/arts category. Sure u could have an argument that there are similarities, but band there is no direct competitor or common goal u are trying to achieving (score a goal)
- I have done marching band in the past, along with several sports, and I can't think of a reason why it is a sport. Yes, it takes conditioning, but so does playing a live set on stage. That doesn't make it a sport. That's the way I look at it. I've been going to shows for years and playing a few with my friends' bands as well. It's a great time and it's very tiring, but that doesn't make it a sport. I think of it as being athletic, but not a sport. Kinda like yoga and pilates...
- I think you should try a sport like soccer track or field hockey or something and THEN you will know why marching bands not a sport.
