Monte Applewhite, Chief Executive Officer of the GoSayHELLO Foundation, said that funding from the Amazon Douglas County Community Fund supports technology education programs aimed at introducing residents to digital tools and artificial intelligence applications. This statement was made in Amazon News.
“The funding from the Amazon Douglas County Community Fund is helping us bring real-life learning initiatives into community spaces,” said Applewhite. “This support allows us to help people of all ages become more comfortable with technology and see how AI can create new opportunities in their lives.”
Amazon has announced $400,000 in grants through the Amazon Community Fund to support 41 community projects across Newton, Butts, and Douglas counties in Georgia. Each grant provides up to $10,000 to help launch or expand programs focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, sustainability, and digital skills development. These initiatives are part of Amazon’s ongoing investments near its data center communities.
In Newton County, Georgia, Amazon partnered with Goodr and the local school district to open a no-cost grocery store inside Alcovy High School. The store offers students and families access to fresh produce and household essentials, addressing food insecurity in the area. This collaboration reflects Amazon’s approach to community investment alongside its infrastructure development.
Amazon Web Services operates community engagement programs in regions where its data centers are located across the United States. These initiatives include workforce training, STEM education, and sustainability partnerships with schools and nonprofit organizations. The programs aim to connect infrastructure investment with local economic and educational outcomes.
Applewhite serves as Chief Executive Officer of the GoSayHELLO Foundation, an organization focused on technology education and digital inclusion.
