The annual Atlanta Biketober Challenge is underway, offering residents the opportunity to participate in team-based cycling activities throughout October. The event encourages participants to form workplace teams, motivate each other to ride, and compete for prizes based on participation and mileage.
Last year, a team from Georgia Tech won the citywide challenge. This year’s event also highlights resources available for cyclists on the Georgia Tech campus. These include a virtual Ride Smart class and monthly in-person group rides.
Georgia Tech has been recognized as a gold-level Bicycle Friendly University. The campus recently improved its bicycle infrastructure with the opening of the Ferst Drive cycle track, which features a bidirectional path separated from vehicle traffic. Additionally, a new bike shop has opened in the Campus Recreation Center to provide repairs, parts, and maintenance services for riders.
Information about campus bicycling resources, including maps and other details, can be found on the Parking and Transportation Services website.
