Atlanta will host eight matches, including a semifinal, during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The tournament, which will take place across 16 cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, is set to feature 104 matches for the first time. The full match schedule has been published on FIFA’s official website.
Organizers have structured the schedule to reduce travel for teams and fans while increasing rest days between games. Kick-off times were selected to benefit both participants and viewers worldwide.
Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council and Atlanta World Cup Host Committee (AWCHC), commented on the announcement: “Today marks a pivotal moment as we now know which nations will bring their passion, talent, and fans to Atlanta. The Final Draw brings us one step closer to welcoming the world to our city. Atlanta’s rich soccer culture, world-class infrastructure, and legendary hospitality make us the perfect stage for these nations and their World Cup pursuit. We cannot wait to show off what makes Georgia special to fans, players, coaches and all stakeholders from our visiting nations and beyond.”
William Pate, president and CEO of Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, said: “Atlanta’s hospitality community is excited to welcome these passionate soccer fans from all across the globe. Once again, our city will ascend to the world stage and we are looking forward to sharing everything that Atlanta has to offer. Our passionate soccer culture and world-class visitor experience will create unforgettable memories for every team and fan.”
The AWCHC is collaborating with FIFA as well as local partners such as the City of Atlanta, State of Georgia, Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Mercedes-Benz Stadium management, and regional organizations. Preparations include transportation planning, organizing a fan festival at Centennial Olympic Park, recruiting volunteers, and launching programs aimed at expanding youth soccer opportunities throughout Georgia.
“These are more than just soccer matches – they are a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Atlanta to connect with the world,” Corso added. “Whether fans are traveling from another country or they’re part of Atlanta’s passionate soccer community, everyone will experience the energy, culture, and southern hospitality that define our city. We’re ready to create an unforgettable soccer atmosphere here in Atlanta.”
