Delta Air Lines is highlighting new features and benefits available to SkyMiles members through its mobile app. According to the company, the Delta app streamlines various aspects of travel, including planning, booking, airport navigation, and tracking Medallion Status.

The airline states that “9 out of 10 Medallion Members rely on the app for their day-of travel.” Delta encourages both current and prospective SkyMiles members to use the app to manage trips and access exclusive offers.

SkyMiles membership is free and can be initiated through the app. Members earn miles when flying with Delta—excluding Main Basic fares—which can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and other rewards. The program also provides special offers and priority boarding opportunities.

Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members can now select and manage Choice Benefits exclusively through the app as of June 1. These benefits include Global or Regional Upgrade Certificates, Delta Sky Club access, bonus miles, or gifting Medallion Status. The app allows eligible members to redeem upgrade certificates during checkout.

Delta also provides four free drink vouchers per Medallion year to Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion Members over age 21. These are accessible in the “Wallet” section of the app.

Members have opportunities to earn additional miles by linking their accounts with brands such as Starbucks and Uber. For example, they can earn one mile per dollar spent on UberX rides to or from U.S. airports (with higher rates for premium rides) and double Starbucks Stars on Delta travel days when accounts are linked.

SkyMiles Shopping and Dining programs allow members to accumulate miles through purchases at participating retailers and restaurants by paying with a linked card.

Eligible SkyMiles Members enrolled in TSA PreCheck can use Touchless ID—a biometric technology that verifies identity using facial recognition—at most Delta hubs. This feature aims to speed up security screening without requiring a physical ID or boarding pass.

The Delta app also enables users to track their progress toward different Medallion Tiers based on Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs), as well as monitor lounge visits if they have Delta Sky Club access credentials or a Reserve Card Guest Pass.

Delta has announced that MQD thresholds will remain unchanged for earning status in 2027: $5,000 for Silver, $10,000 for Gold, $15,000 for Platinum, and $28,000 for Diamond status. The company affirms there will be no increased spend requirements next year for achieving elite status.

Delta emphasizes that whether booking directly or via Delta Vacations, everyday loyalty counts toward elite status within the program.
