Delta Air Lines has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers by State in its latest annual ranking. The airline achieved the top position in Georgia, Michigan, and Utah, making it one of only two employers—alongside Costco—to secure a No. 1 spot in three different states. Delta also ranked No. 4 in New York and Massachusetts, and No. 8 in Minnesota.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that Delta was named the leading employer in Georgia and the second straight year for Michigan.
Forbes’ list is based on a survey conducted with over 160,000 employees working at companies with more than 500 staff members across the United States. Participants were asked to rate their likelihood of recommending their employer and to evaluate organizations they had worked for or knew within their industry or personal networks. Responses came from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with greater weight given to current employees and recent data specific to each state.
Allison Ausband, Delta’s executive vice president and chief people officer, was featured as part of this year’s results. She said: “Ausband, who is now Delta’s executive vice president and chief people officer, says that this supportive environment is a big part of what makes Delta special for both employees and customers. ‘It sounds very simple, but if you take care of your people, then they’re going to take care of the customer.’”
She also highlighted employee benefits: “Another way Delta takes care of its employees is by offering them benefits including unlimited standby travel, profit sharing, training opportunities, top-notch healthcare benefits, family care and up to five weeks of paid vacation.”
The final rankings were determined using a scoring system that incorporated responses from both current and former employees over the past three years.
