Delta Air Lines is encouraging SkyMiles Members to make the most of their loyalty program benefits as the year progresses. The airline highlights several ways for members to earn and use miles beyond flying, emphasizing flexibility and accessibility in reaching Medallion Status.
SkyMiles Members can accumulate Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) not only by flying with Delta and its partner airlines but also through spending on eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards and booking travel. Achieving Medallion Status provides access to benefits such as priority boarding, waived baggage fees, and preferred seating.
The MQD thresholds required for 2027 Medallion Status will remain unchanged, allowing members to continue earning toward Diamond, Platinum, Gold, or Silver levels without additional requirements next year. Additionally, certain Delta SkyMiles American Express Card holders receive an automatic $2,500 MQD Headstart per card type each qualification year.
Delta also offers a status match program for travelers who hold elite status with other airlines. This allows them to switch their elite status to Delta at no cost, subject to terms and conditions.
Members are encouraged to monitor their progress using the Fly Delta app and explore all available methods of earning MQDs.
Earning miles extends beyond air travel. Through partnerships with companies like Uber and Uber Eats, over one million SkyMiles Members have linked accounts to automatically earn up to three miles per eligible dollar spent on qualifying rides or food orders in the U.S. Eligible cardholders can also benefit from a limited-time offer that provides monthly credits toward Uber One membership when using an eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express Card before June 25, 2026.
Dining is another avenue for earning miles via the SkyMiles Dining program. By linking a credit or debit card, members earn miles when dining at thousands of participating restaurants nationwide. New users can receive bonus miles after their first qualifying dine.
SkyMiles Shopping allows members to earn miles on purchases from more than 1,000 online retailers by logging into the platform or installing a browser extension that alerts users when they can earn additional miles while shopping online.
Beyond these everyday activities, SkyMiles Members have access to exclusive vacation packages through Delta Vacations as well as opportunities for earning and redeeming miles on cruises, car rentals, hotels, and short-term rentals.
Members can also participate in unique experiences through SkyMiles Experiences. This includes bidding on exclusive events such as VIP weekends or private dinners using accumulated miles—a feature now enhanced for Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members.
Membership in the program is free. All members receive immediate benefits including complimentary Wi-Fi provided by T-Mobile on most flights.
