Delta Air Lines responded to a turbulence incident that led to the diversion of Delta flight 56 from Salt Lake City International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The flight, an Airbus A330-900 with 275 customers and 13 crew members, encountered significant turbulence over Wyoming and was diverted to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP).

Upon landing at MSP, medical personnel and emergency responders met the aircraft to evaluate passengers and crew. According to Delta, twenty-five people were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and care. By Thursday morning, all seven crew members who had been taken to area hospitals were treated and released. All customers who were evaluated at the hospital and willing to share their status with Delta have also been released.

“We appreciate the response and support of first responders in caring for our customers and crew,” Delta stated.

The airline confirmed its cooperation with the National Transportation Safety Board as part of an ongoing investigation into the event.

Delta emphasized its commitment to safety: “Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team on Wednesday night and Thursday personally reached out to customers who were on the flight to assist them with their immediate needs, as well as coordinate their onward travel.”

To help affected passengers continue their journey, Delta arranged a special flight from MSP to Amsterdam for Thursday evening.

“We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved,” the airline added.
