The Nordic music trio Dreamers’ Circus is scheduled to perform at the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center’s Hodgson Concert Hall on October 28 at 7:30 p.m. The event is part of the UGA Presents 2025-2026 season.

Dreamers’ Circus, recognized as one of Denmark’s leading musical ensembles, consists of Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen on violin and other instruments, Nikolaj Busk on accordion, piano, and synthesizers, and Ale Carr on cittern, violin, and more. The group is known for blending traditional Nordic folk music with elements from classical music, jazz improvisation, and pop.

Fifteen years after meeting in Copenhagen at a jam session, the musicians have developed a style that critics describe as “spellbinding” and “joyously inventive.” Their concerts are characterized by spontaneity and musical storytelling.

“We view our roots in the rich traditions of Danish and Swedish folk music as a point of departure and refuse to accept tradition as a straitjacket,” the trio explains. “Our name hints at the possibilities and magic of the imagination, and we hope that you will open yourself up to the colors and images we seek to create with our soundscapes.”

Each member brings notable experience to the ensemble. Sørensen is also a founding member of the Grammy-nominated Danish String Quartet and served as concertmaster for the Copenhagen Philharmonic in his early twenties. Busk has worked across folk, jazz, and pop genres as a composer and arranger. Carr comes from a family of Swedish folk musicians and is considered an innovator on plucked string instruments in Scandinavia.

The concert is included in the “Nordic Dream: Voices from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden” series within the UGA Presents World Stage calendar. This series offers audiences in Athens an opportunity to experience music from northern Europe that bridges ancient traditions with contemporary styles.
