Nehemiah Hamilton, CEO and Founder of Nehemiah Cares, announced on LinkedIn that his youth-led foster care drive collected more than 7,200 items. This success inspired him to launch a nonprofit to expand the initiative.

“Wow, what an incredible journey! With the support of my amazing community, I collected a total of around 7,200 items,” said Hamilton, CEO & Founder, according to LinkedIn. “I’m so thrilled to have collaborated with the CEO of BECAUSE ONE MATTERS CORP to make this donation possible. I hope this is a reminder to everyone, especially teens like myself. Humans are fundamentally good. I’m now taking the next step to start my own nonprofit, and I’m asking for support to raise the funds needed for the initial legal and filing fees.”

According to WSB-TV Atlanta, Gwinnett County student Hamilton organized a months-long community supply drive for foster youth. His efforts resulted in the collection of thousands of hygiene products, pajamas, and backpacks for children in care. Amazon matched these donations, doubling their impact and aiding distribution through Because One Matters.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Hamilton initially aimed to gather 300 hygiene kits. However, with growing community support, the project expanded significantly. Local leaders and Amazon’s involvement helped the drive surpass 7,000 items, providing essential supplies like socks, deodorant, and school materials to foster youth.

According to USAFacts data from 2022, over 391,000 children were in foster care across the United States. Nearly half were placed in nonrelative foster family homes. Many face difficulties accessing basic necessities such as hygiene products and clothing. Hamilton’s donation drive addresses these needs by supplying critical day-to-day items.

Hamilton is a high school senior who founded Nehemiah Cares to further his work supporting foster youth. He raised over $10,000 and began filing for 501(c)(3) status within the organization’s first three months. Additionally, he served as Mayor’s Executive Intern and was selected for the Gwinnett Youth Commission.
