The Georgia Center of Innovation has played a role in supporting Ecologix Environmental Systems, an Alpharetta-based company specializing in wastewater treatment equipment for several industries, including oil and gas, food processing, manufacturing, and automotive. The Center of Innovation’s team focuses on energy sustainability and assists businesses in developing sustainable methods for managing waste products such as water.

Ecologix’s connection with the Center of Innovation provided access to consulting during key points in its development. This relationship was significant when Ecologix expanded into offering services by leasing frac water treatment systems to oil companies. The Center’s understanding of the demand for treated water in the oil industry helped guide this move. Currently, Ecologix assembles Integrated Treatment Systems on-site that can process up to 2,000 gallons per minute.

As Ecologix grew and diversified its operations, it continued to work with the Center of Innovation. Projects have included supplying wastewater treatment systems for Kia Motors’ paint line at its West Point, Georgia plant and creating a system to help the Army Corps of Engineers remove algae from water at power plants in Florida.

According to the organization: “Helping businesses with efficient, sustainable waste stream management is just one facet of the Center of Innovation. The Center is one of the state’s most unique economic development programs, and a value-added benefit that helps businesses connect to resources, collaborate in research, and grow in the marketplace.”

The Georgia Center of Innovation states: “By learning about your business, we can connect you in the right places to overcome obstacles and reach the next level of growth.”

Businesses interested in these services are encouraged by the organization: “Connect (or reconnect) with us to find out how we can help you take your business further, faster. Start the conversation at Georgia.org/innovation.”
