The Georgia Department of Public Health has confirmed three new cases of measles in the state. These cases are close contacts of a previously reported case. With these additions, Georgia has reported a total of ten measles cases so far in 2025. This is an increase from the six cases that were documented in 2024.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent measles. The CDC recommends that children receive their first dose of the vaccine between 12 and 15 months old, with a second dose administered between ages four and six. “Consult with your doctor or healthcare provider about the vaccination that is best for you and your child,” states the Georgia Department of Public Health.
