The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced that its Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program will end on June 30, 2026. The EHV program was created under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). DCA is among more than 600 Public Housing Authorities nationwide that manage this program.

According to DCA, HUD released the final funding allocation for the EHV program in March 2025. This allocation will cover Housing Assistance Payments (HAPs) for EHV participants until June 30, 2026. After this date, HAPs will stop and the contract between landlords and DCA will be terminated. Any ongoing agreements between landlords and tenants after this point will not involve DCA.

“The Emergency Housing Voucher program is the only program impacted. DCA’s regular Housing Choice Voucher program and other special voucher programs are not affected by these changes,” stated DCA.

Residents with an Emergency Housing Voucher or property owners renting to EHV participants can contact DCA at 470-802-4707 or by email for questions. Additional information and frequently asked questions are available on the DCA website.
