Velocity Startups has launched as a new early-stage accelerator within Georgia Tech’s commercialization ecosystem. The program aims to support startup founders in Atlanta, particularly those looking to scale their businesses and prepare for later-stage accelerators such as the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), Engage, Fusen, and Atlanta Tech Village.

The accelerator will be located in Atlanta’s Tech Square, an area recognized as a national innovation district that supports community growth and technology development at the center of the city’s tech sector.

Donnie Beamer, senior technology advisor in the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Technology and Innovation, said: “Atlanta is where innovation becomes opportunity, and Velocity Startups will make that journey even faster. By connecting entrepreneurs to the critical resources they need to scale, we are fueling more startups, creating more jobs, and driving economic growth. Ultimately, this will secure Atlanta’s place as a top global destination for innovation, investment, and entrepreneurial success.”

Velocity Startups provides mentorship support, workspace, tools, networks, infrastructure, strategic programming, funding opportunities, and access to Georgia Tech research resources. It serves not only students and faculty but also researchers and members of the broader Atlanta community. The accelerator acts as a link between Georgia Tech programs like CREATE-X Startup Launch — which hosts an annual Demo Day — and further business development opportunities.

Raghupathy “Siva” Sivakumar, vice president of commercialization and chief commercialization officer at Georgia Tech as well as president of Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures stated: “Velocity Startups represents a pivotal step in bringing together the resources, expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit within our ecosystems as we look to further establish Atlanta as a top national tech hub. By uniting these elements, Velocity Startups will help startups scale from their first customer to long-term growth. This accelerator enables the communities at Georgia Tech and beyond to translate groundbreaking research into high-impact ventures.”

A subsidiary of Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures operating in partnership with the City of Atlanta, Velocity Startups is currently seeking a director through a national search process.
