A recent survey by Morning Consult for The Home Depot indicates that more than 75% of Millennials are seeking practical gifts for their homes this holiday season. The study also found that Millennials and Gen Z are more likely to create holiday wish lists compared to older generations, with nearly twice as many making lists for friends and family. Additionally, over half of Millennials plan to buy something for themselves while shopping for others, a figure nine points higher than the general population.

To cater to these preferences, The Home Depot is launching the Holiday Gift Edit on Pinterest. These curated boards target different groups such as DIYers, new homeowners, and those focused on comfort and ambience.

For DIY enthusiasts, popular items include tool sets like the RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless 6-Tool Combo Kit and the DEWALT Atomic 20V Max Cordless Brushless Oscillating Multi Tool. New homeowners may be interested in appliances such as the GE Smart Ultrafast Electric Washer and Dryer Combo or smart home devices like the Amazon Echo Hub 8 in. Smart Home Control Panel. For those prioritizing comfort, options include accent chairs and faux plants along with decorative lighting products.

Molly Battin, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at The Home Depot, stated: “At The Home Depot, we know our customers value practical, meaningful items that enhance their everyday lives. This holiday season, we’re leaning into those customers in a digital-first way, offering wish list inspiration on Pinterest and providing savings on products that make home prep, decorating and gift-giving both enjoyable and effortless.”

The company has announced that its online assortment of holiday decor will now be available in stores as well. Returning favorites include the Grand Duchess Twinkling Balsam Fir Artificial Christmas Tree with expanded options such as a flocked version and matching garland. A new addition is the Breckenridge Twinkling Adaptive Lighting Downswept Fraser Fir Christmas Tree featuring customizable lighting technology.

Kate Hamill, Pinterest’s vice president of enterprise sales for North America said: “Holiday shopping can be overwhelming, but Pinterest is here to make it simple, creative, and meaningful. The Home Depot’s Holiday Gift Edit perfectly captures what we know resonates with our users – curated collections that help people discover gifts that truly connect with the recipient. When you can find practical, thoughtful presents all in one place, it takes the stress out of gift-giving and helps people nail that perfect gift.”
