IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen, along with other union leaders, recently visited members working at Alaska Airlines Cargo. During the trip, they also met with mechanics from both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines in Seattle and Hawaii.

A central topic during these meetings was the upcoming representation election between the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). This election comes as a result of the ongoing merger between Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

Johnsen addressed questions from union members about this process. He issued a public challenge to AMFA for a debate on key issues affecting aircraft maintenance technicians. “I am willing to meet at any time, any where to discuss issues at stake for the workforce,” said Johnsen.

Video highlights of these discussions are available online.
