IAM Local 914 recently held the Gift of Justice Winter Wonderland Black Tie Gala, an event aimed at supporting local children and military veterans. The gala, organized by the IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee, brought together union members, their families, community partners, and leaders to recognize individuals advancing justice and equity.
Attendees contributed toys that were distributed to New Hope Village for Veterans and Parents Engaging Parents. Nearly 500 children received gifts through these donations, benefiting families in need during the holiday season. Both organizations provide support and services to veterans, parents, and local families.
During the event, several awards were presented. IAM International President Brian Bryant received the Beacon of Solidarity Award. General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes was given the Trailblazer Award. Richie Johnsen, IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President, was honored with the Guardian of Transportation Workers Award. Nicole Fears, IAM Human Rights Director, received the Champion of Human Rights Award.
“I am deeply honored to accept this award,” said IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen. “Protecting the rights of transportation workers is at the heart of the labor movement—and it is a human rights issue we must never stop fighting for.”
“Solidarity is the foundation of the labor movement, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to fight for dignity, fairness, and justice for all workers,” said IAM Union International President Brian Bryant.
“I accept this award on behalf of the union members whose dedication, grit, and unity continue to break barriers and open doors for generations of workers to come,” said Cervantes.
“I am proud to help organize opportunities for our members to gather and give back,” said IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee Chair Donyea Hoffman. “Our union stands for more than workers’ rights—we stand for strong, thriving communities, and this event lets us put that commitment into action.”
