Delegates from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Wisconsin State Council gathered in Madison for a three-day meeting, according to an April 7 announcement. The event brought together union members from across the state to address current regulatory and political challenges affecting collective bargaining.
The gathering highlighted the importance of solidarity among workers and encouraged proactive efforts to protect and advance workers’ rights. During the conference, Governor Tony Evers delivered opening remarks before signing Assembly Bill 651—now known as 2025 Wisconsin Act 145—which updates Wisconsin’s workers’ compensation system.
On the final day, IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli spoke about key strategies for strengthening labor representation. “Division is the most effective weapon against working people,” said Cicinelli. “When we stand together across each of the crafts, across industries, across differences, we are powerful. Unstoppable. History proves it.”
Afterward, delegates visited lawmakers at the Wisconsin State Capitol as part of their lobbying efforts.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by IAM members to engage with policymakers and advocate for legislation that supports organized labor.
