The Metro Atlanta Chamber has announced a restructuring of its Economic Development division, introducing a new Community Development team aimed at supporting industry growth throughout the 29-county metro Atlanta region.
Barton Lowrey has been appointed as the Vice President of Community Development, marking the first hire for this newly established team. Lowrey brings experience from his previous role as Director of Statewide Projects at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, where he worked on business recruitment and investment initiatives. His background also includes positions with the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Darlington School, and early work in the office of U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson.
“Barton’s deep experience and collaborative mindset will be tremendous assets to our team,” said Kristi Brigman, Chief Economic Development Officer at the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “His background in economic development and understanding of regional dynamics make him well-positioned to lead our new community development efforts.”
Lowrey holds bachelor’s degrees in real estate and sports management from the University of Georgia. He is a native Georgian who lives in Atlanta with his family.
The chamber plans to further expand its Community Development team over the next several months to advance strategic priorities and foster greater collaboration across metro Atlanta. The initiative aims to provide resources and structure that support inclusive economic growth for the region.
