State employees in Georgia are reminded that the deadline to file State Business Transaction Disclosure Reports is January 31. The requirement applies to transactions conducted by the employee or any business in which the employee, spouse, or dependent holds more than a 25% interest. There is an exception for transactions under $250 if the total of all such transactions does not exceed $9,000 during the calendar year. Employees with no business transactions to report are not required to file.

Reports must be submitted through the State Ethics Commission’s new electronic filing system, accessible via the State Ethics Commission – PeachFile website. For questions about filing requirements or using the electronic system, individuals can contact the State Ethics Commission at gaethics@ethics.ga.gov or call 404.463.1980.

The disclosure covers sales or leasing of personal property, real estate, or services on behalf of oneself or third parties as an agent, broker, dealer, or representative. It also includes purchases of surplus property under similar circumstances.

“Any Business” refers broadly to corporations, partnerships, proprietorships, firms, enterprises, franchises, associations, organizations, self-employed individuals, trusts, and other legal entities.
