Three public safety professionals at the University of Georgia have been named recipients of the 2025 Edward T. and Sarah Laurent Kassinger Scholarship Award, according to an announcement from the university’s Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The scholarship recognizes full-time public safety staff who have shown strong commitment to their professional responsibilities while also advancing their education. The 2025 honorees are Caroline Bloodworth and Noelle Broadnax, both emergency operations coordinators with UGA’s Office of Emergency Preparedness, and Daniel Saunders, administrative division lieutenant with the UGA Police Department. Bloodworth and Broadnax each earned a Master of Public Administration from UGA, while Saunders received his MPA from Columbus State University.
The Kassinger Scholarship was created in memory of Edward Kassinger, a former director of the UGA Public Safety Division, and his wife, Sarah. It provides support to employees within the UGA Police Department, the Office of Emergency Preparedness, as well as students in the Criminal Justice Studies Program who have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree while employed full time.
“Caroline, Noelle and Daniel exemplify the spirit of service and scholarship that the Kassinger legacy represents,” said Adam Fouche, interim associate vice president for environmental safety, risk and resiliency. “We are proud of their academic achievement and their commitment to helping keep UGA safe.”
