Twenty-eight University of Georgia employees retire after decades of service

Twenty-eight employees of the University of Georgia retired on September 1, 2025. The retirees served in various roles across the university, representing a range of departments and years of service.

Among those retiring are William C. Argo, who served as IT director for operations and infrastructure at UGA Athletics for nearly 14 years; Douglas A. Bailey, assistant dean in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with almost 26 years; and Kathleen Bangle, senior director of development for constituent programs in the Office of the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, who worked at UGA for nearly 33 years.

Other retirees include Timothy Brenneman, professor in plant pathology at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with 39 years of service; Christa L. Campbell, county Extension agent with over 29 years; Michael Casuccio, application analyst principal in Enterprise Information Technology Services with more than 27 years; Amy L. Childre, clinical assistant professor in communication sciences and special education at Mary Frances Early College of Education with over 26 years; LeAnne A. Hill from Transportation and Parking Services with 24 years; Robert David Hill from Rock Eagle 4-H Center with almost 18 years; Kara K. Huff from the Infectious Diseases Lab at the College of Veterinary Medicine with more than 29 years.

The list also includes Kenneth Little from Facilities Management Division (over 14 years); Vijayalakshmi Mantripragada from crop and soil sciences (over 26 years); Charlotte H. Mason, professor in marketing at Terry College of Business (17 years); Thaddeus P. McWhorter from Carl Vinson Institute of Government (11 years); Diane H. Miller from Franklin College’s Office of Student Academic Services (22 years); Ellis L. Moncrief from Griffin Campus (over 35 years); Karen H. Myers from Regents’ Center for Learning Disorders (24+ years).

Janette T. Nodine retired after nearly eleven years as a nurse practitioner at University Health Center’s psychiatry unit; Thomas Peterson served as professor in Romance languages for thirty-five years; John Scott Pyle worked as safety and compliance technician for over eighteen years.

Other retirees include Linda Read (executive education programs), Lisa Reeves (English instructor), Ethelene R. Roberts (senior budget analyst), Tina Shields (building services worker II), James Loran Smith (UGA Athletics historian), Maria Twedt (academic services professional), Hanke Van Der Wel (research professional IV), and Laura Woodson (associate director of career development).

No additional information about replacements or future plans has been provided by university officials.
