The U.S. Census Bureau has released preliminary data from the 2024 Annual Survey of School System Finances, offering an early look at public school spending per pupil and state-level statistics on revenues and expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year. The data cover pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

According to the Census Bureau, fiscal years may differ among school systems, and the survey results have not been adjusted to account for these differences. The information is considered preliminary and may change before the final release.

The Census Bureau intends to publish final data for all 50 states and the District of Columbia in 2026.

“This product does not have a news release associated with it. Tip sheet only,” stated the U.S. Census Bureau.
