Open enrollment for benefits at the University of Georgia (UGA) will take place from October 27 to November 7. This year, employees are required to actively review and update their benefits selections to ensure their coverage and costs match their needs.
All faculty and staff who are enrolled or plan to enroll in a University System of Georgia (USG) health care plan must certify their tobacco use status. Employees who cover a spouse on their health plan must also update the working spouse certification. If these certifications are not completed during open enrollment, a $150 monthly surcharge for each item will be applied.
UGA is organizing an in-person benefits fair on October 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mahler Hall in the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. Attendees can meet with vendors, receive information about benefits, and participate in giveaways. Open enrollment presentations are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in Room D.
The event will also include a walk-in flu shot clinic managed by the University Health Center. Faculty and staff are asked to bring their UGA ID and medical insurance card. Kaiser Permanente members are reminded that their flu shots must be administered at a Kaiser facility for insurance coverage.
Throughout the year, USG provides opportunities for UGA faculty and staff enrolled in a health care plan to earn well-being credits through free biometric screenings. The UGA Benefits and Well-being team will share more details as these opportunities become available.
Registration for the benefits fair is not required. More information about open enrollment for 2026 can be found on the University Human Resources website or by contacting hrweb@uga.edu.
