University of Georgia staff members were recognized at the 2025 Fall Staff Appreciation Reception, held on November 25 in the Grand Hall of the Tate Student Center. The event, hosted by the Office of the President, featured refreshments and activities for attendees, including hot cocoa, cider, popcorn, ice cream sundaes, a tater tot station, and photo booths with Hairy Dawg. Staff also received canvas tote bags with UGA symbols.
UGA President Jere W. Morehead said, “The University of Georgia is strengthened every day by the dedication and professionalism of our staff, and this event allows us to show our appreciation for all their exceptional service. Their commitment to advancing our mission and supporting our campus community is vital to the success of this institution.”
Rebecca Mayo, coordinator in the Office of Animal Care and Use in the Office of Research and president of the UGA Staff Council, commented on the importance of such recognition: “The Fall Staff Appreciation Reception serves as a meaningful celebration of the remarkable contributions UGA staff make every day. It highlights how the administration values the commitment, creativity and perseverance that fuel our university’s progress. Moments like these not only uplift the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes but also inspire all of us to prioritize recognition in our own spaces. By continuing to invest in a culture of appreciation, we strengthen our community, deepen our shared sense of purpose and honor the essential role that staff play in advancing UGA’s mission.”
Miranda Pickens from the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel noted that it was an opportunity to connect with colleagues across campus: “It’s great to see people outside my department. It really shows the scope of how big this campus is when you walk into this room and see how full it is, and it allows you to connect with people you don’t get to see every day.”
Sharon Gamble from the School of Law added: “It’s a wonderful way to wind down the semester, to see colleagues and enjoy a few minutes of fellowship. It’s great to acknowledge each other and the work we do to make this great university such a wonderful community.”
