The University of Georgia has announced that nominations are now open for the 2026 President’s Medal. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the university, including supporting students and academic programs, advancing research to address current challenges, and encouraging community leaders to improve the quality of life in Georgia through their support of the university.

The President’s Medal was established by the UGA Emeriti Scholars and will be presented during the Founders Day program on January 27, 2026.

Nominations are being accepted for candidates who have a connection to the university but are not current UGA employees. Those currently serving as appointed or elected officials at the local, state, or federal level are not eligible.

Nominations must be submitted to the UGA Office of the President by November 17, 2025. Required materials include a nomination letter, a resume or biography of the nominee, and at least one additional letter of support. These materials should be addressed to Nathan A. Moore at the Office of the President, Administration Building, 220 S. Jackson St., Athens, Ga. 30605. Nominations can also be sent by email to nathan.moore25@uga.edu.

According to the university, “Nominees who are not selected may be considered for the following two years.”
