The University of Georgia has been ranked ninth in the nation according to a new set of college rankings, as highlighted by the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board.
The ranking is based on an assessment tool developed by City Journal, which reviewed 100 leading public and private colleges across the United States. The evaluation considered 68 variables within 21 categories that address significant aspects of both on-campus and off-campus life.
UGA achieved first place nationally for curricular rigor and the quality of its alumni network. The university also received strong evaluations for faculty teaching quality, educational value added, and student outcomes. The report specifically recognized UGA’s “strong economic outcomes” for graduates.
Other universities in the top ten include the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Florida, University of Notre Dame, and University of Texas at Austin.
This recognition follows a year in which UGA has received several national accolades. For ten consecutive years, it has remained among the top 20 universities nationwide according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings. Forbes placed UGA at number 18 among public universities, while Niche ranked it in the top ten national public universities. Niche also rated UGA second nationally for best student life and tenth for best college campuses. Princeton Review recognized UGA as twelfth among best value public schools, eighth for best alumni networks, and tenth for access to financial aid.
