The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued a final order to end the joint cooperation agreement between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico, effective January 1, 2026. The decision was announced on September 15, 2025.

Delta Air Lines responded to the announcement with a statement expressing disappointment in the Department’s action. “We are disappointed that the Department of Transportation has chosen to terminate its approval of the strategic and pro-competitive partnership between Delta and Aeromexico, a decision that will cause significant harm to U.S. jobs, communities and consumers traveling between the U.S. and Mexico. We are reviewing the Department’s order and considering next steps.”

Delta also stated that all flights will continue as normal unless customers are otherwise contacted by the airline.
