The Virginia IAM Council convened a meeting where speakers addressed labor concerns and the significance of political participation ahead of the state’s elections. Charles Mann, the council’s president, spoke about the priorities of ensuring member security, fair compensation, and workplace safety. He also urged union members to vote in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of electing candidates who support labor issues, as all major statewide offices and delegate seats will be contested.

New members of the IAM Union, recently organized at botanical gardens, discussed their experiences with unionizing. They noted the role of resources and organizing support from both international and state-level union organizations, including the AFL-CIO.

The speakers conveyed that political involvement and voting are crucial to strengthening the labor movement and safeguarding worker rights. They stressed that this applies regardless of political party.
